Harridge Wood Nature Reserve

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Sadly this woodland is badly affected by ash die back. This means that the ash trees are not in good health, they and their limbs are prone to failing and falling. We do not recommend visiting this nature reserve at the current time (May 2020).

Harridge Wood Nature Reserve is a magical woodland walk in Radstock. Consisting of 136 acres of semi-natural ancient woodland with a mixture of public and permissive paths that loop around different areas of the reserve.

The best part of this walk is the beautiful stream with a waterfall that runs next to an old abandoned cottage. It feels like you’re in a movie set! Take some wellies and venture over to the waterfall to see if up close or stand on the bridge and admire the view. Your pup will also love splashing around here with many different smells and places to explore. The old Keepers Cottage (which is now fenced off) is remnants from the 19th century when the land was part of the Ashwick Grove Estate. If you follow the path along the stream, you will also come to a pond which has the remains of the old lower mill.

The short nature trail at Harridge Wood Nature Reserve is 1.3km long – follow the green way-marked posts from Harridge Wood West main entrance. The long nature trail is 2.0km long – follow the red way-marked posts from Harridge Wood West main entrance. There are no toilets or facilities here.

The walk is stunning and is by far one of our new favourite dog walks even though it’s a little bit out of Bristol!
