The Chequers Inn is a lovely riverside pub with a large garden that is unrivalled in the sunshine. It also makes an excellent addition to a walk along the River Avon Trail, from Conham River Park or Avon Valley Woodlands.
We visited after parking at the car park for Avon Valley Woodlands, where it took us about 20 minutes to walk to the pub for some delicious fish and chips and a pint. It was a warm sunny day and sitting next to the calm River Avon, surrounded by woodland, it felt like we were in the middle of the countryside. There’s also a field by the pub where dogs can have a little runaround.
They are dog friendly inside (bar area) and out, and brought our dog, Bella, a water bowl as soon as we sat down.
We would highly recommend stopping here.
