Berrow Beach
Berrow Beach is a quiet and spacious dog walk, winning a Seaside Award for 2017. It is dog friendly all year round, meaning you and your pup can walk/splash around with no worries.
The beach at Berrow stretches for miles which is ideal for dog walking. There are a couple of places to park, the main car park for the beach (follow directions to Beachside Holiday Park, Coast Road, Brean TA8 2QZ) is paid parking, where you pay on entry with the attendant. Or you can park at the smaller car park off Coast Road (opposite Sandy Glade Holiday Park, TA8 2AX), which will take you immediately into Berrow Dunes Local Nature Reserve.
Berrow Beach is similar to Weston-Super-Mare beach as the tide goes very far out, leaving sinking mud and water that you have to squint in the distance to see! If the tide is in, there is an old shipwreck visible at low water to be aware of. But your pup will just love digging holes on the beach and playing in the sand, then exploring the sand dunes. There are sometimes horses on the beach, but they should be easy enough to spot to avoid if you want.
Just next to Berrow Beach is Berrow Dunes Local Nature Reserve which you can access at multiple points from the beach. These sand dunes make the walk really interesting and gives you and your pup a change of scene if you’ve been playing on the beach for a couple of hours, we would definitely recommend the circular walk around. Sand dunes like this are relatively rare in the UK, so they have been classed as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
