Bath Racecourse

Bath Racecourse is a fantastic open space for dogs to stretch their legs, making it particularly popular with owners of energetic breeds. While dogs are not permitted on the race track itself, there are plenty of public footpaths around the course to explore.

The area offers wide, open views, including the popular Prospect Stile viewpoint, which overlooks Kelston Roundhill and the surrounding countryside. With numerous intersecting footpaths, it’s easy to tailor your walk or create your own route depending on how long you’d like to be out.

As with nearby routes, we recommend using an OS map to ensure you stay on public rights of way. From 2023 onwards, the Arena Racing Company has enforced clearer boundaries for dog access.

Please note that the racecourse is only accessible on non-race days, so it’s best to check the racecourse website before visiting.

It will take you just less than an hour to walk around the racetrack.

Parking

There are different areas to park dotted around the racecourse. These are: on the crest of the hill from Wick to Bath, near Sir Bevil Grenville's Monument, or just off the main road on Langridge Lane, or if you're visiting dog friendly The Charlcombe Inn, you can use their car park.

Paws for thought

Make sure there isn't a race on!
