Bourton Combe

Bourton Combe is a peaceful, shady woodland offering a lovely circular walk through deciduous woodland to Stancombe Quarry, with far-reaching views over Bristol and the surrounding countryside.

Access is via Flax Bourton, turning onto Bourton Combe Lane and parking at the end, where a wide track leads into the woods. The main circular route follows the woodland edge and is approximately 2.5 miles, though shorter loops are easy to create.

The woodland borders a quarry, so dogs may need to be kept on leads near exposed edges. In spring, the forest floor is carpeted with wild garlic, making this a particularly beautiful time to visit.

Parking

Some on street parking at end of Bourton Combe lane

Paws for thought

Not much parking and the wood borders on a quarry, so if you are worried, keep pooches on the lead when nearing the quarry
