Bourton Combe

Bourton Combe is a hidden, peaceful, shady woodland with a great circular walk through the glorious deciduous woodland to Stancombe quarry with stunning views of Bristol and the surrounding countryside.

The woodland is quite easy to get to; when driving through Flax Bourton, turn off onto the small country lane which is also named ‘Bourton Combe’, park at the end of the lane, where you will see a wide track into the woodland.

The wood is quiet and you may not even see anyone else there when walking around (maybe just some cows in a nearby fenced off field). There is a circular route you and your pup can walk, following the edge of the woodland, which is approximately 2 and a half miles. Although, you can easily loop around earlier in the woodland and take a shorter route. The wood borders on a quarry, so if you are worried, keep pooches on the lead when walking near there.

Bourton Combe is lovely in any time of year, but in spring, wild garlic fills the floor, making a white carpet on the ground.
