Saul Junction

Saul Junction is where the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal meets the Stroudwater Canal and is a great meeting place for ships and boats from around the world to meet up.

The towpaths now provide lovely, pleasant walks along the idyllic waterways. Parking is currently £2.50 for 4 hours, which gives you plenty of time to explore the long towpaths. After, you can stop by a little cafe, The Stables, which has a small, dog friendly outdoor garden.

Toilets can be found in the Stables café and at the visitor centre and the Canal and River Trust, who look after the waterways have produced an illustrated map.

Want a longer walk? To the south, along the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal, Slimbridge is 4 miles, Purton Ships’ Graveyard is 6.5 miles. Or you can walk along the Thames and Severn Way to either Upper Framilode. There are many footpaths around to create a countryside circular walk.
