Spaniorum Skyway

A 5.8 mile circular walk through Easter Compton countryside, with beautiful views from Spaniorum Hill. Despite the peaceful walk, there was, however, a small section on this route that will take you right next to the M5 for about 500 metres, which wasn’t very pleasant.

For this walk, we followed a route detailed on A Forgotten Landscape, which has excellent instructions in their downloadable leaflet. We parked on a residential street near the start of the walk, so please park considerately if you do this. You may also be able to park at Easter Compton Village Hall (BS35 5RG) which is right next to the start of the route.

We did come across livestock on this route. Sheep were in the first field after the church and there were horse fields just after Berwick Drive. We obviously just missed cows in one or two fields between the horse fields and Oakhill Lane. There is a little bit of road walking on quiet lanes, so it is a mix of an on lead and off lead walk.

Paws for thought

Livestock on the route, so please keep dogs on a lead or under close control. Some quiet road walking. A small section of the walk is right next to the M5.
